When we work with images and pictures in our documents, we do not always need the original size. One reason why we usually resize images is to lower their size.

Resize an Image by Clicking and Dragging

Using Microsoft® Word, you can resize not only pictures, but also text boxes, WordArt, and boxes. If you want.

1 - Select the object you want to resize.

2 - Select and drag a Sizing handle. The Sizing handles are located on each corner of the object, as well as on the top, bottom, left, and right borders. Grab a sizing handle away from or toward the center to increase or decrease the size of the picture.

To keep the proportions of the object the same, press and hold the Shift key while you select and drag AND press and hold Ctrl to keep the center in the same place while you are dragging the sizing handle.

If you want to keep the center in the same place and maintain proportions, you can press and hold both Ctrl and Shift while you are dragging the sizing handle.
