Step 3: Create New Course Fields
You will find the “Create New Course” fields.
Here, you will have to complete four different sections:
Basic information
Media Settings
SEO Settings
Curriculum
Let’s fill them up one by one.
Basic Information
Under “Basic Information”, you will provide general information about your courses, including the name of your course, category, level, and more.
Course Name: First, select a name for your course. Instead of a generic title, be specific and keep search engine optimization (SEO) in mind.
Course Duration: Then, it’s time to fill out the “Course Duration” field in hours. This should be the total number of hours it will take to complete all the video materials of your course. For example, if your course is 5 hours and 30 minutes long, write down “5.5” on the field.
Category: Now, it’s time to select the category of your course. Click on “Select a category” to open the drop-down menu of existing categories. Your course should fall under one of those categories. Go ahead and select the category of which your course can be a part.
Course Level: This is another drop-down menu where you will select the entry level for your course. Can a beginner start a course, or is it for intermediate or advanced-level learners? Pick one that matches the difficulty of your course.
Is It Free: If you want to make your course free for Sikkhon students, then you can turn this option on. On the contrary, keep it off if you want to offer a premium course and earn from it.
Course Price: Provide the price of your course in this field. The price is set in Great British Pound (GBP: £).
Discount Status: If you want to offer a discount on your course, then turn this option on.
Turning on the discount status will open up a few fields below to provide more information on your discount.
Discount Type: You can show your discount as a percentage or a fixed amount to potential students using this drop-down menu.
Discount Value: The amount of discount you are providing. For example, If your course’s original cost is £50 and you want to provide a 20% discount, then your discount value would be £10.
Sale Price: The sale price is the price of your course after subtracting the discount value. For example, if you are providing a £10 discount on a course that is £49.99, then the sale price would be £39.99.
Course Short Description: Write down a short description of your course in this field so that anyone can understand the gist of it in a few words.
Course Description: Here is where you can get really descriptive. Provide a detailed understanding of your course, what topics you will cover and what your students can learn from it once they complete it.
Requirements: Here, you can write down the requirements for your course. For example, if a student needs a computer and a stable internet connection to learn and apply the things you are learning, then you can specify them here. Write down a requirement and press the plus (+) button on the right.
You can add multiple requirements using the plus button.
What You Will Learn: Here, you can write down the things a student will learn after finishing your course. Similar to the requirement field, all you have to do is write down the points and click on the plus (+) button on the right.
You can add multiple points to this section as well!
Once you are done with the field under “Basic Information”, click “Next”.
Media Settings
Now, you will go to the “Media Settings” section of the course creation menu, where you will upload a demo video of your course, as well as a thumbnail and cover email.
Demo
Video: Here, you can upload a video showing your course’s demo. It can be a short overview of the course. Let’s learn how to get your demo video up and running:
Video Source: Sikkhon provides you the option to upload your demo video from multiple sources: YouTube, Vimeo, direct upload from your device or uploading through an external link.
After selecting your preferred video source, either upload it by selecting a file from your computer or paste the link to the video of the selected source. The video will then be shown below.
Thumbnail: Now it’s time to select a great thumbnail for your video that will leave a strong impression. Click on “Upload Thumbnail” and select the right image from your device.
Cover Image: Lastly, you will have to upload an image that will be shown as the cover of your course. Click on “Upload Cover Image” and select your file.
Once all “Media Settings” fields have been filled out, click on “Next” to go ahead to the “SEO Settings” option.

After creating each section, you click the drop-down arrow on the left to upload your course content.
Click on the “Add Lesson” button to add lessons to that specific section.
A popup will appear where you will have to provide the following:
Lesson Title: A unique title of what the lesson will be about.
Lesson Description: Detailed description of the lesson.
Duration: Total duration of the lesson in minutes.
Order: The order of the lesson.
Video: Video of the lesson uploaded from links or direct from your computer.
Lesson Resources: Resources for the lesson in PDF or ZIP format.
When finished, click “Save Lesson”.
Once you are done adding the sections and lessons, save the course as a draft.
Once saved as a draft, you can view this course in the “My Courses” section of your dashboard.
Click the "Publish" button on your course to publish it.
Once you hit publish, your course will be submitted for review. You will be notified when it gets approved.
As you can see, it’s simple to upload your first course on Sikkhon. Once you get approved, students will view your course on our website. If you need further help, head over to support.sikkhon.com or mail us at [email protected]
